Vitamin C for a healthy cartilage and flexible blood vessels

What exactly is Vitamin C

Vitamin C, also referred to as ascorbic acid, is a vitamin that is soluble in water. Everybody knows this vitamin as a supplement that is taken to increase your immunity. It is for this reason that Vitamin C supplements and/or foods that are rich in this vitamin such as fruits and vegetables are very popular among people who suffer from a cold or the flu.
What is less known about Vitamin C is that it plays a very important role in maintaining the health of our teeth, skin, nervous system, blood vessels and energy metabolism. Vitamin C is an anti-oxidant and protects, just like vitamin E, our body against an excess of free radicals that could cause accelerated aging. In addition, Vitamin C stimulates the absorption of iron, promotes flexibility of our blood vessels and helps to maintain a healthy cartilage.

Sources of Vitamin CVitamine C

Food is the natural source of Vitamin C that is present in produce such as vegetables, fruit and potatoes. One orange contains an average of 51 milligrams Vitamin C, a paprika 150 milligrams and 100 gram of potatoes 9 milligrams. The average daily dosage of Vitamin C should be at least 75 milligrams which can be achieved easily with a healthy diet.

You should be aware that heating processes can degrade Vitamin C. It is therefore wise to consume regularly raw foods such as fruits and leafy greens. Vitamin C is also better preserved when the heating process uses little water such as steaming versus boiling in water.
In case you want a natural boost with Vitamin C, it is best to choose paprika, kiwi, guava, parsley and rosehip that are the most abundant sources.

Vitamin C and our cartilage

Synofit Premium and Synofit Basic contain Vitamin C that helps to maintain a healthy cartilage. Vitamin C plays an essential role in the natural synthesis of collagen that is not only an important part of cartilage but also of bones, teeth, blood vessels and various other tissues.

Vitamin C and our blood vessels

Collagen is an important building block of our blood vessels and ensures that they are both strong and flexible. Since Vitamin C plays an essential role in the natural syntheses of collagen, it also contributes to healthy blood vessels.
